The Big Summer Games could not have come at a better time. It has been such a difficult summer for our country and our world, but these worldwide games have a way of uplifting, encouraging, and motivating us. The teamwork, passion, and challenges provide shining examples of triumphs and dedicated work to our children.
You will find my family glued to the TV rooting for the USA! (Screen time limits don’t exist during these next two weeks!) If your family is anything like mine, binge TV’ing requires snacks. Here are some super easy snacks to please your family & friends during the Summer Games!
Torch Flame Veggie Tray
Cut a red, orange, and yellow pepper into strips. Then, arrange the peppers in a clean tin can. Serve with veggie dip.
Summer Games Fruit Rings
Arrange color coordinating fruit into the ring pattern. We used blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, pineapple, and kiwi.
Red White & Blue Fruit Skewers
All you need are strawberries, blueberries, marshmallows, and skewers. Place fruit and marshmallows on the skewer in a red, white and blue pattern. Go USA!
USA Relay Baton
Coat pretzel rods with white melted candy melts, then lay on a wax paper lined cookie sheet. At this point you can sprinkle with red, white and blue sprinkles. If you prefer the look of the drizzled pretzels, stick your coated pretzel rods in the refrigerator to set. While waiting for the melts to set, melt red and blue candy melts for your drizzle. Once the candy melts have set on the pretzel rod, remove from the refrigerator. Use a spoon or a piping bag to drizzle the pretzel rods with red & blue melted candy melts.
Donut You Know We Are Bringing Home The Gold!
First, I worked entirely way too hard at coming up for a name for these donuts. Second, I’m certainly way too proud of my donut pun. If you’re still reading now that you’ve found out how dorky I am, thank you! To begin, pour your colored sprinkles into separate bowls. Then, warm white frosting in the microwave until it reaches thinner consistency and stir well. Dunk your donut into the warm frosting and then into the sprinkles. Arrange the donuts to resemble the Olympic rings. Side note, I used Oreos for the black ring…and called dibs on that donut.
Opening Ceremony Spritzer
That’s a fancy name for: add Lifesavers to Lemon-Lime soda. 🙂
I think it would be a blast to host or attend a theme party for the Summer Games! Do any of you have any plans or traditions for the big event? I hope these snacks inspired you!
